Cycling Shimanami 2020

Over 3500 cyclists from all over the world will converge on Shimanami-Kaido to participate in one of Japan’s biggest cycling events!

The Shimanami-Kaido Cycling Road stretches across the Seto Inland Sea from Onomichi city in Hiroshima all the way to Imabari in Ehime Prefecture on the opposite shore. This beautiful backdrop will be the stage for some 3500 riders from around the world who shall participate in Cycling Shimanami 2020 which will take place on October 25th, 2020. The course runs north to south through Shimanami-Kaido cycling road hitting each island. There are 7 different courses ranging from 40km to 140km for all types of riders.

A course that includes cruising on the ferries, a beginner’s course, and a family course among others for you to choose from. We are also expecting many people from overseas to come and participate! For this event, the highways will be closed and you will likely have a chance to ride, unencumbered on open roads normally reserved for cars!

You will ride among the beautiful islands along the Seto Sea, taking in the nature and history that glides past you as the local people cheer you on from the aid stations making this an unforgettable event. Please come participate with us! Or, better yet bring your family and friends!
